The TFT Navicular Shoe is designed for the horse with apparent radiographical evidence of navicular disease, and is recommended to be used before a neurectomy is considered. However, the mechanical advantages provided are beneficial for the "nerved" horse as well.

The TFT Navicular Shoe with rocker toe can provide relief for horses suffering from chronic navicular disease. The rocker toe reduces the amount of pressure applied to the navicular bone during locomotion much better than any other shoe modification while still providing protection to the wall. Many horses have been able to successfully return to competition because of this horseshoe.

The elevated posterior half of the shoe provides a unique contribution to the load bearing mechanisms of teh foot. This feature allows the horse an option in how the foot bears weight. The horse can change at will as much as 7-10 degree angulation of the hoof. No other shoe allows this.

The TFT Navicular Shoe is made of steel to give it durability without adding undue length to the foot. The weight of a size 0 TFT Navicular Shoe is less than one ounce heavier than a conventional shoe of the same size.

Contraindictions
Horses with low, weak, or underslung heels may not respond well to this type of shoe.
